Delete your account and export your data

How to delete your Pinok account, in the app or without it, what happens to your work, and how to take a copy first.

Last updated October 20, 2026

Draft — pending legal review. This page describes how Pinok works today, but it isn’t in force yet. Items in [brackets] are still to be confirmed.

On this page

  1. In short
  2. Delete your account in the app
  3. Without the app
  4. What is deleted
  5. What stays with your team
  6. Workspaces and projects you run
  7. Leaving a workspace instead
  8. Export your data first
  9. A copy of everything we hold
  10. Signing up again

In short

  • In the app: Profile → Account → Delete account, then type DELETE or your email. It works on iPhone, Android and the web, takes effect at once and can’t be undone.
  • Without the app: write to us through the contact form, choose Privacy, and use the email address of the account.
  • Your private tasks, photo, sign-in and sessions are deleted. What you wrote in shared tasks stays with your team, shown as “Deleted user”.
  • Export a project or the workspace first if you want to keep a copy.

Delete your account in the app

  1. Open Profile: your face at the top right on a phone, or your name at the bottom of the sidebar on the web.
  2. Under Account, tap Delete account (in red, under Sign out).
  3. Read what will happen, then type DELETE or your email address. The button wakes up.
  4. Tap Delete account. Every device signed in to the account is signed out, and the app returns to its first screen.

It works the same on iPhone, Android and the web. This is one of the few things in Pinok that asks you to confirm, because there is no Undo.

Without the app

If you can’t use the app (you lost your phone, or uninstalled it), write to us through the contact form, choose Privacy, and give the email address of the account. We will confirm by writing to that address before we delete anything, and delete the account within [30 days] of your confirmation.

What is deleted

  • Your private tasks (personal tasks nobody else owns, approves or follows), with their subtasks and files.
  • Your profile photo, your sign-in, every session and every device’s push token.
  • Your follows, read markers, reactions, calendar feed link and notification settings.
  • Invitations to your address, and the counters kept to protect sign-in.
  • Files of deleted tasks are removed from storage at once, or by the daily sweep within about a day.

What stays with your team

Your teammates rely on the discussion around shared work, so the comments, files and history lines you added to shared tasks stay, with no name on them: they show “Deleted user”. Tasks you created stay with whoever holds them. A personal task you shared with others stays with them.

Copies in backups are deleted when those backups expire [to confirm: backup retention]. If analytics are turned on in the future, events tied to your account id will be [to confirm: deleted or anonymised].

Workspaces and projects you run

  • A workspace you own passes to its longest-standing member. A workspace with only you in it is deleted with everything in it.
  • A project where you were the last admin gets its longest-standing member as admin. A project with nobody else in it goes to the workspace’s owner.

Leaving a workspace instead

If you only want to leave one team, leave its workspace instead of deleting your account. Personal tasks you held there go back to the people who created them, and anything waiting on you is cleared.

Export your data first

  • A project: Project settings → Export project, as a spreadsheet (CSV) or as JSON with its discussion and history. Anyone on the project can export it.
  • The whole workspace: the workspace page → Download a backup (JSON). Only the workspace owner can.
  • Files are listed in exports by name and size, but their contents aren’t included: download the ones you need from their tasks.
  • Other people’s personal tasks are never in an export.

A copy of everything we hold

To get a copy of all the personal data we hold about you, write to us through the contact form (choose Privacy). We will answer within one month.

Signing up again

The same email address can sign up again later. It starts as a new, empty account.
